In 1796, Napoleon 1st defeated forces in Italy. Following this, a
contingent of forces from Italy, Portugal and Spain left Portugal, possibly
to unite with Wellingtons forces in order to fight against Napoleon.
One of these people was Antonio Salmoni, a man who was apparently
born in Milan, Italy during 1748, and he migrated to Britain with his wife,
Lousis Perchant with two sons,
Peter Paul Salmoni (1770-1846),
and Mark Salmoni (1771-1841).
Accompanying them was Peter Paul's wife Lucia.
They arrived initially in Bristol, but soon settled in the City of
Bath, and they were Roman Catholics.
Enquiries to the British Military Records office have had no luck as of yet,
but the Port of Bristol had some information.
